So, I mentioned earlier that my icons have been seriously hotlinked to the point that my photobucket account ran out of bandwidth in the first 2 days of the month.
I deleted all the posts with the icons present in them because the photobucket default image is really ugly and nobody wants to see that. This includes all links to the images posted in communities.
Vanity Fair's publisher, however, has asked me to remove these deleted posts. (How does one take a deleted post off the internet anyways? One would assume the act of deleting the post would be the same as removing the offensive post.
The posts I've been asked to remove are mostly from
lion_lamb despite the fact they were posted (and subsequently deleted) in other comms.
these are the posts it said contained the images:
*
http://community.livejournal.com/paperlike/5010.html#cutid1*
http://community.livejournal.com/lion_lamb/6092786.html*
http://community.livejournal.com/lion_lamb/6089817.htmlInteresting that there are TWO lion_lamb posts that link the images seeing as I only posted it in one...
Anyway, despite the fact that I deleted EVERYTHING to do with those icons within 12 hours of posting them due to the bandwidth issue, I received a message from the publishing company of Vanity Fair today, three days after deletion. It specifically mentions the use of photos from the Vanity Fair.com site and claims they will press charges etc. if the images continued to be used.
Did everyone using these pictures get a suspension? If no, why me?
Also, why is vanity fair wasting someone's time to suspend posts THAT WERE DELETED THREE DAYS AGO?
Seriously, VF. What the hell?
Further questioning - why go after the fans who are promoting the images? What about Lainey Gossip? What about Perez Hilton? I'm nobody. Why me?
Also, I went to post the full letter but apparently that is a violation of US law also.
Does it matter that I'm Canadian? lol
edit: I'm not actually being charged with anything. This letter is basically a cease & desist warning. Just thought I'd clarify that for the concerned.
