I talked to my boss yesterday about starting our fundraising for the Red Cross early in the wake of what's happened in Japan. Usually, the company does a large, multi-million dollar fundraising effort in late-spring/early-summer. Apparently continuing to push for customers to have a membership card is more important than helping those in need. There are also options to donate money to help those in Libya.
It may not be much, but I thought I'd post links online to do what I can to help out. A lot of the sites/links/foundations that are out there right now are American that Canadians can't use, so here are some links for Canadians that are official and will go to those in need.Canadian Red Cross Website
To donate to Canadian Red Cross through your cell phone, text ASIA to 30333 (100 per cent of your $5 donation goes to the Canadian Red Cross Japan Earthquake/Asia-Pacific Tsunami fund). Whatever you donate will be added to your phone bill at the end of the month.
On your iTunes account, you can click the “Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief Donate Here" button which also donates to the Red Cross, though I believe it's the American Red Cross. 100% of the donations will go to Red Cross.Unicef.ca Emergency Fund Donation Website
With the addition of nuclear radiation to the aftermath of the natural disasters, Japan needs our help more than ever.
